#sheddingsixtyeight // March

Hey, hey, hey! It's been awhile! I think I say that every time. & I think I say that I think say that every time. Haha. Oh, well.

I haven't done a weight loss update in awhile so I thought I should do that while I have some free time. Life has been craaaazy & I started the year off with a whole lot of talk & not a lot of 'walk'. After my stomach incident that landed me in the ER & caused me to have a bunch of tests & way too many needles stuck in me, I got the results that the main thing wrong is an enlarged liver. I like to say 'enlarged' because it's the medical term & doesn't make it sound quite as bad, but the common name is a fatty liver. I'm overweight. I went through a night in the emergency room, way, way, way too much blood being taken from my body (my opinion - an exaggeration, of course), an endoscopy, & an MRI all because I'm overweight.

I go back tomorrow to get all of the results, but when they called, they just said I need to work on eating better & exercising more. UGH. How embarrassing.

So! Since then, I've buckled down on doing just that - eating better & exercising. We did a low-carb diet for a few weeks that cut out just about all bread. That did wonders & WORKED. Which is more than I can say about most things I've tried. Different people have different opinions on eating low-carb, but it really did work for us.

We've stopped eating strictly low-carb because I got scared when my doctor said I needed to eat low-fat. I'm still watching how much bread I eat & that's making a big difference still! &, of course, water is all I drink other than coffee in the morning.

Exercise. WALKING! Crazy long days filled with lots of walking. I've never walked so much in my life, & I can't tell you the positive impact it's had on my life. Staying active & getting so much fresh air has helped me so much.

I have a friend who also wears a fitbit & we've been in challenges with each other constantly for the past few weeks. On the app, you can do 'Workday Hustle' & 'Weekend Warrior'. It's been crazy good motivation to get out & walk whenever I can! While our daily step goal is 10,000, it's a pretty lazy day if that's all we get. :) On that GORGEOUS Tuesday last week, I walked over 24,000 steps. It makes you feel good to stay active.

Unfortunately, I fell down the stairs in my house on Friday & bruised my booty pretty bad. It hurts to do a lot, especially sit, haha. It hasn't gotten better yet, but I have gone on a couple of walks since then. Only because when I lose this Weekend Warrior, I don't want to lose by so much that I'm not even anyone's competition. ;) There are five of us in the challenges now! If you've got a fitbit & want in, let me know! It's a lot of fun!

Whew - this is a long post. Sorry.

Since we started eating healthier & I started walking my legs off, I've lost fourteen pounds. For the first time in a super duper long time, I'm finally under 220. I can't tell you the feelings I get when I think about being under 220, & the motivation I have to get under 200.

Most of these pictures I put on Instagram. I post way more on there than I do here, so definitely follow along if you want more updated progress! @hannahgracephotos is my name. :) I post a lot with my #sheddingsixtyeight hashtag, so if that kind of thing annoys you, you probably want to stay away. :) It's a way for me to feel kept accountable.

Leaving the gym after going over five miles on the elliptical. Something that
I would have never been able to do before exercising so much!

One of my favorite walking buddies. This little guy has to touch every. single. light pole.
I don't mind. It's nice to have someone to talk to. :)

I love getting to see the sun rise & hear the birds chirp in the morning.
I don't walk every morning, but when I do, it gets my day started on a perfect note.

On a day I went on an extremely long walk, it was nice
to see some sidewalk encouragement. :)

That one day I started walking thinking "I hope I don't see anyone I know"
& ending up seeing EVERYONE I know. -_-

Because even pine straw is beautiful.

"It is almost impossible to watch a sunset & not dream."

The best company.

Love seeing all of these pretty skies.

That one day it decided to be thirty degrees after teasing us with the
perfect seventies.

Rain is no excuse to skip out on walking.

Neither is the cold.

I'm a real sucker for a pretty sunset!

Seriously, sunset walks are good for the soul.

This was me this morning. Multiple people asked if I've lost weight,
& that makes you feel real good about those long days on your feet & the
lack of brownies in your life. ;)
Here's a comparrison. When I lose weight, you can always tell first in my face.
The left is me at 228 & the right is at 215.
My goal is to stick to what I'm doing. Small amount of bread, more fruits & veggies, only water, & walk, walk, walk. Plus, add the gym in more regularly.

I'm feeling good, y'all! :)
